Lactation and Mastitis

Breastfeeding should be a joyful experience but inflammatory conditions of the breast, mastitis, engorgement, blocked ducts and nipple trauma/infection can be painful, debilitating and stressful.

We know these issues can develop quickly. We triage lactation patients to be seen within 24 hours at the clinic or at your home with our mobile service.

Treatments available include:

For best outcomes, our physiotherapists work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with doctors, midwives and lactation consultants to help women get the best possible outcomes.

It can be difficult to attend appointments while you are adjusting to having a newborn and have lactation symptoms. Every effort is made to facilitate home visits if requested. Professional advice and self-management techniques can also be taught via telehealth to help women actively manage symptoms themselves until they are able to access face to face care.

Please contact us directly on 9481 6312 for Mastitis & Lactation concerns, as we prioritise these appointments as required. (Please note: Online bookings are unavailable for Mastitis & Lactation concerns, please contact Reception)
